
South Africa United Apostolic Church fertility caves
Maria Nzuza of the United Apostolic Church cleanses herself of evil spirits as she emmerse herself in the freezing water of a waterfall at the divine Fertility Caves deep in the Maloti Mountains near Clarens, South Africa, 16 December 2011. The ritual is also to connect with their ancestors and form part of a belief that sees them retain their traditional pre-Christian belief system of ancestor worship in parallel with their Christianity. At the Fertility caves the followers 'pray' to both the ancestors and Christian God. Living in the cave are various Sangoma's, or 'Witch doctors' who have been living in the caves for years and who appeal to the spirit world alongside the Christian beliefs of the United Apostolic Church followers.

Mandela launches the second of the 46664 music concerts
Former South African President and Nobel Peace Prize winner Nelson Mandela launches the second of the 46664 music concerts that will highlight the plight of AIDS sufferers and the effect of HIV aids in the world, Johannesburg Thursday, 17 February 2005. The concert to be held in George on March 19 will included Annie Lenox, Queen and United States actor and rapper, Will Smith.

South Africa AfrikaBurn festival Burning Man arts rave hippie Pagan trance
Participants in the AfrikaBurn festival in the the Karoo desert, Tweefontein, South Africa, 04 May 2013. The festival is based on Burning Man in the United States and see thousands of people gathering in the desert to construct a temporary community. The event is part rave, part trance party, part Pagan gathering, part arts festival as thousands of participants erect art pieces, share ideas, share goods and gifts burn the effigies on the final night. There must be no trace of humans after the event is finished and a sharing community is formed as there is no money allowed as participants have to bring their own food, water and tents.
